Spotify has announced a new Lossless Listening feature for Premium subscribers that offers richer audio quality with clearer musical details. The feature is rolling out in over 50 markets starting September 10, 2025. So, what should you know about it?

How does it work?

With support for 24-bit/44.1 kHz FLAC format, you can now choose the audio quality level from Low to Lossless depending on your internet connection, whether it’s Wi-Fi, cellular data or download.

Additionally, this feature can be enabled via the Spotify app by going to the profile icon → Settings & Privacy → Media Quality → select the “Lossless” setting.

When enabled, a special marker will appear while the song is playing. Spotify Lossless supports a wide range of devices, including smartphones, desktops, tablets, and select products via Spotify Connect from Sony, Bose, Samsung, and Sennheiser.

Besides that, support for other devices, such as Sonos and Amazon, will follow in the coming months.

However, Spotify reminds users that Lossless audio has larger file sizes, and the best performance is achieved using Wi-Fi and wired connections rather than Bluetooth to avoid any audio compression.

With this feature, Premium subscribers can now enjoy a more immersive music experience that is closer to the original recording.
