Last week, news was already buzzing around of Spotify raising the price for each plan. But we have realized that the price hike for the Malaysian market has already taken effect for new subscribers.

If you take a visit to Spotify Malaysia's website here, the Spotify Premium Individual, Duo, Family and Student prices have risen at least RM1 more. The one with the most is Premium Duo with an increase of RM1.70, so that's RM21.50 per month now as compared to RM19.80 per month previously. As for Premium Family, it increased to RM24.90 from RM23.80 per month.

Only Spotify's Premium Mini remains untouched. On that note, current Spotify Premium users will only need to pay the new monthly fee starting in September 2023 onwards. So for now, current Spotify Premium users are still paying the previous fee for August 2023.

Despite the risen fee, new subscribers will have a treat upon subscribing to either the Premium Individual, Duo or Family plans. Depending on which plan you want, you can get two months for the same respective monthly fee. In other words, Spotify is basically giving you one free month with its services but you must do it from your mobile.

Spotify's price hike started in the US where subscribers have to top up $1 for the plans. It has affected other markets as well, and the company even laid off employees to keep itself afloat from inflation in these bad economy times.
