Spotify is a pretty popular audio streaming platform right now. Too bad, in terms of user account protection it's not the best. After years of users wanting two-factor authentication support, Spotify recently tested it out on a few select accounts. So, what should you know about it?
For your information, This feature appears to be activated automatically by Spotify and users have no way to change the settings. When logging in, Spotify will ask the user to enter a 6-digit PIN sent to the registered email. This feature is obviously still in testing and will probably be rolled out to everyone once it's stable.
Moreover, it is expected that Spotify will support multiple two-factor authentication such as SMS, authentication application or Passkey with biometrics and not limited to email only. There are many cases of Spotify Premium accounts being hacked and sold as shared accounts around the web.
We have yet to confirm other details on the subject. Hopefully, everything will be sorted out soon. You might want to consider other music-streaming platforms too.
