Spotify has now introduced a 'Messages' feature that allows you to share music, podcasts and audiobook recommendations without having to leave the app. So, what should you know about it?
This feature will be introduced gradually
According to Spotify, this feature will be introduced in stages to Free and Premium users aged 16 and over in select markets via mobile devices, starting this week.
For your information, this feature integrates with Spotify's existing sharing functionality. While listening to content in the "Now Playing" view, tap the share icon and select a friend to send a message to.
Moreover, recipients can accept or decline the message request, as well as respond with text or emoji reactions. Plus, conversations are limited to one-on-one conversations between users who have previously interacted through Spotify features like Jams, Blends, Collaborative Playlists, or those sharing a Family or Duo plan.
Additionally, all shared content is stored in the Messages inbox, which can be accessed via the profile picture in the top left corner.
Spotify states that conversations in Messages are protected with industry-standard encryption and are subject to the platform's existing content moderation policies.
Furthermore, it's important to note that this feature does not replace sharing Spotify content via Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, or other platforms. Rather, it's designed to complement that integration.
