While out and about, most people rely on their smartphones to listen to music these days. But it can be tedious to whip out your phone every time you want to change tracks. In that case, Spotify's latest update could be of interest to you thanks to a new feature.

According to TechCrunch, Spotify now supports standalone streaming on the Apple Watch version of the app. So, why is this a thing? Well, I'm sure there are times when you leave your house for a quick jog or run to the store, but don't want to bring your phone along. With the update to the app, you'll now be able to stream Spotify directly on any compatible Apple Watch, without having to connect to your iPhone.

The dedicated app for Apple Watch was released way back in 2018, but it wasn't till September 2020 that Spotify started to test this feature. Spotify has confirmed that the feature will be a global rollout. Of course, your Apple Watch has to be a Series 3 model or later and you'll need watchOS 6.0 and above.

With that said, is this a relevant feature for you? What other standalone features would you like to see added to Apple Watches? Let us know in the comments and stay tuned to TechNave for more news like this.
