Avid music listeners don't just stop at listening to music. Often, they want to know more than just who sang the song. They'll also want to know the other people behind the song, like the composer and lyricist. Spotify is introducing a beta feature to do just that.

SongDNA for Premium

Yesterday, Spotify introduced the new SongDNA feature for premium users globally. This feature is built into the "Now Playing" view, allowing Spotify Premium users to see every creative connected to a song or track. When you tap on the SongDNA card, you can see who the producer, composer, vocalist, or collaborators are. Furthermore, you can tap on the names to track down other songs or tracks they've worked on.

Again, here are the instructions on how to access SongDNA:

  1. Open the Now Playing view while listening to a song
  2. Find the SongDNA card on supported tracks
  3. Tap the card to see all creatives connected to the song/track

Note: You must have a Spotify Premium subscription.

Bringing fans and artists together

According to Spotify, SongDNA "complements existing features like About the Song to give listeners a deeper understanding of the music they love". The idea is to help music lovers go beyond just listening to music and help them explore the people behind the art. With this feature, you might find new songs or tracks you weren't aware of.
