Statistic report suggest Huawei will become Apple's new rival

Ah, the classic rival between Apple and Samsung. You know it, I know, everyone knows it. But would you be surprised if I tell you that it’s no longer the case? In fact, according to analyst Brian White from Drexel Hamilton, we have a new rival replacing Samsung and it’s Huawei.

New report from the Strategy Analytics revealed that during the fourth quarter of 2016, Samsung has dropped out of the top 5 spot in terms of smartphone shipment. This is understandable, as their Note 7 fiasco last year had hit them hard, allowing Apple to grab the market share. Moreover, with a great and increasing number of smartphone brands nowadays, it’s admittedly difficult to grab consumers’ attention. Even though Samsung did reveal their brand new flagships just last week, there are still a number of people who are dubious of whether or not it’s safe to use

In other statistic reports, the International Data Corporation has also reported that during the fourth quarter of 2016 - Apple and Samsung has a 18% market share worldwide each whereas Huawei managed to grab a 11% market share. Managing partner of GGV,  Hans Tung also stated that at this moment, Apple has the edge over Samsung and Huawei because of the ecofriendly hardware and software from the smartphone (which they introduced last year). He thinks mobile manufacturers will have to step up and create a better ecosystem to compete against Apple.

"I do expect the Chinese to knock off Samsung and that's probably going to be Huawei," Brian White said during the interview. "I see it as a Huawei-Apple fight in the future, Samsung and probably some smaller competitors underneath them."

What do you think? Is it really between Apple and Huawei now? Or it has become a three-way battle? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned for more news TechNave.com.
