Steam Deck teardown shows why you shouldn't attempt to swap components

Handheld consoles have been popular options for gamers. In particular, the Nintendo Switch is a popular choice for many around the world. For PC gamers, the Steam Deck will probably be just as famous. But like the Switch, you probably shouldn't upgrade the insides.

In an official teardown video, Valve showed why you shouldn't bother taking the Steam Deck apart. While you could do it, you can't do much to the components inside anyway. The easiest thing you could remove and replace is the thumbsticks. But Valve recommends you avoid attempting to replace the SSD or battery, which are the only other components you could (somewhat) safely reach.

On the other hand, Valve understands that there would be users who want to take the Steam Deck apart. People who are skilled at handling electronic devices like these can and will attempt to do so. And if they do, the video will serve as a useful technical guide. It will at least let you know the removal procedure for parts and how to do it safely.

The Steam Deck is an exciting piece of hardware, so it's quite disappointing to know that it won't be shipped to Malaysia (not directly anyway). Having said that, would you buy what's essentially a mini gaming PC? Let us know in the comments, and stay tuned to TechNave for more updates about it.
