If you just got back from your Chinese New Year holiday, you might be surprised to learn that Telekom Malaysia (TM) will be phasing out its Streamyx/Unifi Lite services. The shutdown is scheduled from 28 February 2025 onwards, so if you happen to be a user, here is what it means for you.
In line with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC)'s directive, Streamyx/Unifi Lite users will not be able to do anything when the copper network in their areas shuts down. With this, TM will not fix any problems with the copper network and users are highly recommended to upgrade to Unifi Broadband which offers a faster and more reliable fibre internet speed.

With that, any new Streamyx/Unifi Lite registrations will not be accepted. TM will also reach out to current users via WhatsApp and MyUnifi app to guide them through the migration process. According to the company, existing customers will be migrated in phases and are expected to complete by March 2025.
Alternatively, existing customers can also visit their nearest Unifi Store or TMpoint to request the migration. To learn more about it, you can check out its FAQ section at the bottom of the page right here.
