With there being so many gamers across the world, it's not all that unusual to find that there are studies of us and how we may behave. In fact, there's a recent study on the intelligence of gamers. IQ tests were given to gamers remotely and a variety of data were collected along with the test.
According to Game Rant, Royal Panda - a company that runs an online casino (of all platforms...) - conducted a study to test the IQ of 1001 gamers. The results showed that PC gamers have the highest average IQ at 112.3, while mobile gamers have the lowest at 99.4 IQ. Mobile gamers scored fourth place in Verbal Intelligence and last place in Mathematical Ability, Logical Reasoning, and Visual Reasoning.
While the study didn't specify the reason for the low scores, mobile games tend to be simpler and more accessible, which appeals to a wider range of gamers. However, the study doesn't say if each demographic has a fair sample size. For example, if there were only 100 mobile gamers and they all scored lower, then it's easier for the average IQ score to also be lower.
