Substack confirms data leak - However, your credit card and data are still safe

Substack, a service focused on email newsletters, has now confirmed that its service experienced a user data leak to a third party in October 2025. Substack said that among the data affected were email addresses and phone numbers.

 

Surprisingly, credit card data and passwords were not affected

Substack emphasises that data such as credit cards and passwords were not affected by this data leak. Substack said it has fixed the issue that led to the data leak and has begun an investigation into it. In an email sent to users, Substack apologised for the incident and for failing to protect user data and privacy.

At this time, the number of users involved in this data leak has not been disclosed.
