Today, TCL Mobile Malaysia not only revealed its latest TV lineup but as well as the TCL 40 NXTPAPER and TCL 40 NXTPAPER 5G. It's not often that you see TCL phones being marketed in the Malaysian market so in this article, here's everything you need to know about the phones.
Starting with the TCL 40 NXTPAPER, it comes with a 6.87-inch FHD+ NXTPAPER display alongside a 32MP front camera as a cutout hole in the top centre. On the back, you can find a triple rear camera consisting of a 50MP (main) + 5MP (ultrawide) + 2MP (macro) setup. It also boasts 8GB of RAM (+8GB virtual RAM) and 256GB of storage.
There's also a 5G variant called the TCL 40 NXTPAPER 5G. For a 5G variant, it features a slightly lesser 6.6-inch HD+ NXTPAPER display, 6GB of RAM (+6GB virtual RAM) and an 8MP front camera. The rear camera setup is the same except for the 2MP depth sensor. In terms of power, the non-5G and 5G feature a MediaTek Helio G88 and Dimensity 6020 chipset respectively.
Moving on, the battery isn't that much different between the two - sporting a 5010mAh and 5000mAh with 33W and 15W fast charging technology respectively. Both will run on Android 13 with one OS upgrade available. It's worth mentioning about NFC and microSD support of up to 1TB. Also, the TCL 40 NXTPAPER comes with an extra stylus.
If you're thinking of why the TCL 40 NXTPAPER 5G is less powerful than the former, you're not alone. What's even more odd is that the 5G variant is RM999 whereas the TCL 40 NXTPAPER is RM899. These two phones are now available across Malaysia buying the 5G variant (from 10-17 October) comes with a free pair of TCL MOVEAUDIO wireless earbuds.
