Today, TM One, the enterprise and government sector solutions arm of Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM), has entered into a strategic Collaboration Agreement with SIRIM Academy, a subsidiary of SIRIM Berhad, to strengthen Malaysia’s national capabilities in information security, artificial intelligence (AI) governance, and workforce certification. Here's what you need to know about what it means for us.
Advancing Digital Governance and Compliance
The collaboration brings together TM One’s deep expertise in cybersecurity and managed services with SIRIM Academy’s recognised strengths in training, consultancy, standards development, and personnel certification. Together, the two organisations aim to help Malaysian enterprises and government agencies close compliance gaps, adopt global best practices, and build long-term resilience in the digital economy.
A key focus of the partnership is to boost certification and workforce readiness in line with international standards, particularly Information Security Management Systems (ISMS, ISO/IEC 27001) and the newly launched AI Management System (ISO/IEC 42001:2023). Through this initiative, TM One will deliver operational security capabilities, including real-time monitoring and incident response, while SIRIM Academy will provide professional certification programmes aligned with both global standards and Malaysia’s national digital frameworks.
Strengthening Security Operations and Workforce Capability
To help organisations maintain compliance and strengthen protection, TM One’s Managed Security Services — including Security Operations Centre (SOC), Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), Managed Detection and Response (MDR), and Threat Intelligence — will play a central role in providing continuous protection and visibility.
The agreement also paves the way for joint go-to-market opportunities, allowing either TM One or SIRIM Academy to lead engagements based on client needs, ensuring flexibility and reach across industries.
Shared Vision for a Secure Digital Malaysia
The collaboration was formalised through a document exchange ceremony between Shanti Jusnita Johari, Executive Vice President of TM One, and Dr. Mohd Bakri bin Jali, Chief Executive Officer (Covering) of SIRIM Academy, symbolising a united commitment to advancing Malaysia’s digital trust, compliance, and governance ecosystem.
Shanti Jusnita Johari said:
“This partnership with SIRIM Academy reaffirms TM One’s role as a trusted digital enabler for enterprises and government. By integrating training, consultation, and certification within our secure infrastructure, we ensure compliance goes beyond paperwork — it becomes a sustainable practice. Together, we’re nurturing the human talent and governance frameworks that will drive Malaysia’s transformation into an advanced digital nation.”
Echoing this, Dr. Mohd Bakri bin Jali emphasised:
“SIRIM Academy is dedicated to raising Malaysia’s industry standards and certification readiness. Partnering with TM One allows us to merge our standards expertise with their operational capabilities, helping organisations adopt ISMS, AI governance, and digital trust practices more efficiently. This collaboration strengthens Malaysia’s competitiveness in the evolving digital economy.”
Supporting TM’s Digital Powerhouse 2030 Vision
This partnership marks a significant milestone in TM’s Digital Powerhouse 2030 journey, as a long-term vision to empower enterprises and government agencies with secure, compliant, and future-ready digital solutions. Through this alliance, TM One and SIRIM Academy are laying the foundation for a safer, more resilient, and standards-driven digital Malaysia.
