By now, most of you should have heard the news of Telekom Malaysian Berhad (TM) discontinuing both unifi Lite (aka Streamyx) and Business Broadband services. Why would the company do that? Well, TM has recently released a statement about it so read on below.

In the newsroom regarding the discontinuation of new registration for unifi Lite and Business Broadband, TM said that this is because the company is supporting the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and Jalinan Digital Negara (JENDELA)'s expansion of the fibre network connectivity. With this, the company has discontinued any registrations for copper-based broadband services.

However, existing unifi Lite and Business Broadband customers will soon be migrated to a fibre-based unifi service in phases. TM expects this to be completed by 2025, so until then, all existing unifi Lite and Business Broadband users can still enjoy the service without any disruption.

If you are using unifi Lite or Business Broadband, TM will attempt to reach out to you via emails, letters, calls and SMSes to ensure your smooth migration to the future fibre-based unifi service. Stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
