If you always wonder whether the price on your electricity bill is correct and where did it go wrong when it's expensive, it is safe to say these problems will soon go away with the Smart Meter. Tenaga National Berhad (TNB) has launched the new device to replace the old electric meter. The company is now ready to test the smart meters in Melacca, and they'll expand the installation to Klang Valley. It is said that nationwide will enjoy the benefits of the smart meters by 2021.

The smart meters allow you to monitor your electricity usage through a smartphone app. It means that you will be able to control the usage to avoid problems like high billing. Other than that, it is also mentioned in the promotional video that the old electric reads manually on a monthly basis, while the smart meter will be able to record readings every 30 minutes.

With the new device, it is believed that Malaysians will get better control of electricity usage. It is also worth mentioning that the replacement is free of charge. TNB is currently planning to install the device in 1.2 million households in the Klang Valley before expanding it nationwide.
