Touch 'n Go eWallet (TNG eWallet) recently introduced the LPR Parking (License Plate Recognition Parking) feature under the Transport portfolio. So, what should you know about it?
For your information, this feature allows users to pay for parking seamlessly at selected locations through vehicle plate number recognition. The system will scan the user's vehicle license plate upon entry, and the bar will open automatically. Users will also receive notifications containing the vehicle license plate number, parking location, and reminders to ensure sufficient eWallet balance.
Upon exit, the system will calculate the parking charge and deduct it from the user's eWallet balance. The bar will open once the payment is confirmed, and the user will receive a payment notification from the eWallet. According to TNG, there are no additional charges for using LPR Parking. Instead, parking fees are set by the parking operator and will be deducted directly from the user's eWallet balance. If there is an incorrect charge from the eWallet, users can contact the Touch 'n Go Careline at +603-2714 8888. Any incorrect charges will be returned to the user's eWallet within 30 days.
Additionally, there is no minimum balance required to enter the parking area using LPR Parking. However, make sure your eWallet balance is sufficient before exiting and top up if necessary to avoid any inconvenience. Interestingly, LPR Parking will still work in the following situations, as the system can deduct parking charges from the eWallet if there is sufficient balance:
Phone runs out of battery or device is lost: The system will use the last recorded eWallet balance to make the deduction.
No internet connection: LPR Parking does not require an internet data connection to process payments.
Insufficient balance: If the bar does not open due to insufficient balance, users can still exit using an alternative payment method such as a Touch 'n Go card.
Before that, it is important to note that users can link up to 10 vehicle plate numbers in the LPR Parking feature on the TNG eWallet. The procedure is as follows:
- Open the TNG eWallet app and click "More" under the "My Favorites" section on the home screen.
- Scroll to the "Transport" section and select "LPR Parking".
- Click "Add vehicle now" and follow the on-screen instructions to register your vehicle.
- Enter the 6-digit PIN for verification.
- You will receive a notification once your vehicle is successfully registered for LPR Parking.
You can also deactivate this feature through LPR Parking management in TNG eWallet, by simply pressing the on/off button toggle next to the selected vehicle.
