Tamagotchi returns in smartwatch form for 25th anniversary

Did you have a Tamagotchi as a kid? Some of us preferred the Digimon devices, but the Tamagotchi definitely had its share of fans. Since it's the 25th anniversary, Bandai thought it would be nice to bring it back - in the form of a smartwatch.

The Tamagotchi Smart comes with touch and voice controls, allowing you to raise a virtual pet through it. It doesn't actually support speech recognition, but rather recognises specific phrases that are pre-programmed into the device. Makes sense, as it's designed for children. Interestingly, each Tamagotchi Smart device will have different pets.

Besides that, Bandai also plans to sell optional "TamaSma Cards". These are physical add-ons that let users load items into a Tamagotchi Smart. Essentially, they're physical versions of DLCs (lol). Of course, you can use the Tamagotchi Smart as a regular digital watch. It also comes with a pedometer, which as you know is mainly to count your daily steps taken.

If you want one, you could check the official website for more info. The Tamagotchi Smart will retail for 7480 yen (~RM282), but it's not available in Malaysia. With that said, would you be interested enough to import this? Let us know in the comments, and stay tuned to TechNave for more fun news like this.
