Kaspersky: Every third cyber incident was due to ransomware

Kaspersky's research reveals a concerning trend of ransomware attacks accounting for every third cyber incident in 2023. Targeted ransomware groups saw a 30% global increase and a 71% surge in known victims compared to 2022, focusing on government agencies, prominent organizations, and specific individuals. Lockbit 3.0, BlackCat/ALPHV, and Cl0p were the most prevalent ransomware, with smaller, more elusive groups emerging.
