TechNave Gaming - League of Legends may be coming to mobile soon

I’m sure by now everyone knows the popular Massive Online Battle Arena (MOBA) called League of Legends. The game requires 5 players to go against another 5 players of different champions and destroy the opposing team’s base. The first one to do so, wins. After much pressure from China company, Tencent, we’re finally able to enjoy the game on mobile soon.

According to Reuters, the company is currently claimed to be working on a mobile version of the game. Many years ago, Riot Games, the developers of League of Legends had adamantly refused bringing the game to mobile which led to many other MOBAs on mobile such as Mobile Legends Bang Bang or better known as MLBB (which looks very similar to League of Legends) and Arena of Valor (AOV) which is known as Honor of Kings in China. Despite Honor of Kings doing well in China, AOV isn’t doing very well out here in the west.

League of Legends brought in a 1.4billion revenue for Tencent last year, suffering a 21% loss from the year before. Perhaps that is the reason the Chinese company pushing Riot Games to expand their game into mobile where the gaming community is rapidly growing of late.

Sources mention that it is not likely that we will see League of Legends make it to mobile this year so it is possible that we’ll finally hear about the game next year. As a League of Legends player, I don’t think I’ll be moving to play the game on mobile but I do see huge potential for many fans and other mobile MOBA players moving to the game once its out. So will you be playing LoL on your smartphone? Keep up with the latest mobile gaming news on TechNave.com!
