TechNave Gaming Newsbytes - Virtus Pro bags champion title in KL Major, G.SKILL launches the most extra RAM stick and more

Gaming-Newsbytes-Week-2--2 titled.jpg

Hey gamers! Last weekend was pretty intense with the KL Major rocking the Dota2 scene in our country. As someone who has seen many tournaments in her life, its safe to say that the KL Major is definitely one of the best tournaments I’ve seen in Malaysia thus far.

From intense battles between the biggest Dota2 pro teams around the world to top notch production, there was nothing that could shake the entire tournament. In my opinion, this sets a pretty high standard for many other gaming tournaments in Malaysia should reach.

While we wait for next exciting esports tournament to happen in the country, let's have a look at what happened this week in the gaming universe!

During the Kuala Lumpur Majors 2018 Dota Tournament which happened on 16 November 2018 until 18 November 2018, Team Virtus.pro emerged victorious in a very close fight against Team Secret. With the finals determining the winner based on which of the teams mentioned could rack up 3 points out of 5 games, the entire match came to a conclusion after more than 4 hours, challenging the player’s endurance and mentality throughout.

Virtus.pro gained 4950 DPC Points. This will be used to determine whether they will be eligible for a direct invite to The International 2019 that is happening on 20 August 2019 to 25 August 2019.

Nvidia RTX2080 Ti performance tested with DXR turned on in Battlefield 5

Video courtesy of The Tech Chap on Youtube

According to the video produced by The Tech Chap, the performance of the Nvidia GTX 2080 Ti dips down drastically in Battlefield 5, resulting in more than 50% drop in FPS. Although it does improve the immersion of the game by giving a much more accurate and visible light reflection from objects in the game, you might not be able to spot the difference particularly in fast paced games. However in slower paced games, I could definitely see DXR improving the immersion of those games.

In order to activate DXR, you are required to have either the RTX 2070, RTX 2080 or the RTX 2080 Ti, the latest Windows and the latest Nvidia drivers. As of now Battlefield 5 is the first game to come equipped with DXR. Expect more games to support that feature in the near future.

Don’t worry though, as your two favourites did bag other wins in other categories of the Golden Joystick Awards. But does Fortnite really deserve the win or is it just a popularity contest?

 Xbox-One-X.jpg

It is reported that the Xbox One is working on a new console and it may be cheaper than the current machine. However, there is a catch: There will be no Blu-Ray reader. This move could potentially lower the price of the console. Currently, the price of the Xbox One starts at USD $299 (~RM1253). From what we’ve heard, the disc-less console could cost even less, starting at USD $199 (~RM834). So, would this price convince you to grab an Xbox One?

They promised that those who had bought the season pass will not need to pay again for the last two episodes of the game.
