Recently, DeepMind has recently mentioned that their AlphaStar AI is better than 99.8% of the player base on Battle.net. In addition to that, but AlphaStar AI also managed win most of its match against professional Starcraft players who have been playing the game for more than a decade. The way DeepMind has managed to achieve this feat is by mimicking professional Starcraft players, as well as utilizing the reinforcement training in order to make AI learning more efficient.
With all that said, the AlphaStar AI does have limitations such as it can be only as good as the opponents they are pitted against. In the video below, AlphaStar AI was pitted against Team Liquid's professional Starcraft 2 players TLO as well as MaNa who have both competed in international Starcraft 2 competitions around the globe.
DeepMind aims to continue its development on the AlphaStar AI as they plan to translate its capabilities for real-world use such as self-driving cars and AI-controlled robots.
