While a tri-fold phone is not mainstream yet, Tecno just released a new concept device - the Tecno Phantom Ultimate 2. You can watch the video on YouTube but to know more details, you can check out the news below.
According to sources, the Phantom Ultimate 2 tri-fold concept phone can expand from a 6.48-inch display up to a 10-inch LTPO OLED display. The total pixel resolution is 2,880 x 1,620 in a 4:3 aspect ratio, and Tecno is claiming it to be the first foldable with TDDI technology. This means the display driver and touch sensor are running on a single chip.
As you can see in the video above, the concept phone measures 11mm in thickness. Tecno also said the dual-hinge mechanism can fold 300,000 times and helps to minimize the screen crease in between the folding area. Tecno also proudly claim the phone has the thinnest battery cover, measuring 0.25mm.
Since it can be expanded to a large screen view, you can potentially use it as a tablet or in tent mode, or even edit videos on the go via multi-window support mode (up to three or more apps running at the same time). The video also shows that you can use it as a mini-laptop with the Phantom Ultimate 2.
Of course, since this is a concept phone, there is no word yet if Tecno plans to launch this commercially. But still, the concept phone does look intriguing and exciting.
