If you are familiar with Chinese-made games, you would know that many mobile games tend to be 'inspired' by other well-known games. Well, Tencent Games has done it again by announcing a brand-new crossplay console-mobile game called Light of Motiram which is clearly influenced by Sony's Horizon franchise.
Light of Motiram was developed by Aurora Game Studio and Polaris Quest (a subsidiary of Tencent Games). It is an open-world survival crafting game, and yes, they didn't even try to hide the "mechanimals" that look like the ones from Horizon (as well as the font and background music). Two trailers have been released today, one containing a six-minute reveal trailer and another as a 16-minute gameplay footage.
Like Genshin Impact, Light of Motiram is set to launch on the PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), the PlayStation 5, iOS and Android. However, no release date has been announced yet. From the looks of it, Light of Motiram seems to be a combination of Horizon, ARK and a bit of Souls-like. Below is the official excerpt from its official website:
''In a world overrun by colossal machines, explore the vast open world, build your base of operations, advance technology, train Mechanimals, and take on formidable bosses. Starting from the primitive age, forge a new path of development. Defy the machination, survive with mechanimals."
Co-op and crafting are one of the primary gameplay cores of the game. So if you don't mind this Horizon rip-off game, you can wishlist it now on Steam and Epic Games Store, and subscribe to get rewarded with an Explorer's Pack gift when the game becomes available.
