In the midst of CES 2025 and new phone launches, Tesla also has a new electric vehicle (EV) launched in Malaysia. It is a new Model Y Juniper EV, available in either a rear-wheel drive or long-range at a starting price of RM195,450.

What's the difference between this new Model Y and the previous one? Well, Tesla said the exterior has been redesigned, from the front bumper to the taillight. The wheels, tyres and suspension have also been updated so that driving will be smoother and quieter, thanks to the redesigned body castings reducing parts from 70 to 1 for fewer gaps.

In the interior, the materials were refined as well such as a reimagined cabin environment. Tesla said it's more "silent" now inside and the connectivity is more enhanced than ever, with network calls being clearer, faster data downloads and a better Bluetooth connection. The second-row seats can also be folded flat to expand the trunk space, up to 2,130 litres of storage.

In terms of performance, the rear-wheel variant can drive up to 466km in range and a top speed of 201km/h, as well as being able to reach 100km/h in 5.9 seconds. The long-range variant can do the same but driving farther at 551km. Interested customers can opt for five different colours and choose either the 19-inch Crossflow or 20-inch Helix 2.0 wheels.
