Today, Apple is the latest company to announce that their annual Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) will be held in June 2020. However, like many conferences and events nowadays, the company will host it in a new online format for their consumers, media and app developers. The WWDC 2020 will showcase what's new for iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS and tvOS.

According to Phil Schiller, the Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing for Apple, he said the initiative was due to the current COVID-19 outbreak concerns. In order to move the show forward with a new experience, the new WWDC 2020 format will deliver a full program via an online keynote and sessions for the entire developer community.

Schiller also added that more details will be shared in the weeks ahead, which is between now and June by email, in the Apple Developer app and on the Apple Developer website. With this upcoming online format, the company will be committing $1 million to local San Jose organisations to offset associated revenue loss as a result of WWDC 2020’s new online format.

“With all of the new projects and technologies we’ve been working on, WWDC 2020 is going to be big,” said Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of Software Engineering. “I look forward to our developers getting their hands on the new code and interact in entirely new ways with the Apple engineers building the technologies and frameworks that will shape the future across all Apple platforms.”

Welp, that makes no difference to us media in Malaysia though. But still, we are curious to see how Apple will deliver this new online experience for the world. Until then, stay tuned for more Apple news at TechNave.com.
