We have good news for Android owners. Starting today, the Passkey feature will be available on WhatsApp for Android devices. That said, what should you know about it?
Thanks to this feature, you can log in using your face, fingerprint, or PIN to unlock your account. To access this feature, you will need to verify your phone number. The news about this feature arrived one week after Google’s announcements on making it available on all services.
Interestingly, this service has been available on Gmail since May 2023. Google aims to extend this feature to other services such as 1Password, Nintendo, Amazon and so forth. Perhaps this is Google’s way to keep up with Apple.
The iOS17 made it easier to log in via the device’s built-in authentication, such as a fingerprint, Face ID, or a PIN code. WhatsApp clearly aims to emulate this feature. That said, you might want to check your Android system or WhatsApp for this update. We highly recommend you install it as soon as possible.
We have yet to confirm more details on this feature. Plus, there are no announcements the Passkey will be available for WhatsApp on iOS. Only time will tell us the full story.
