The PlayStation 5 Pro could be released in 2024...or not at all

The PlayStation 5 Pro (PS5 Pro) has become a hot topic recently. However, there are conflicting news from sources - one stating that the PS5 Pro would be released in 2024 and the other that it's not happening.

According to Insider Gaming, the media news outlet claimed that the PS5 Pro is already in development and could release in late 2024. We previously reported that Sony has been working on a detachable disc drive but Insider Gaming said that's not the PS5 Pro. In fact, it's a new model to replace the PS5 in the future to reduce production and shipping costs.

On the other hand, we also saw some news that the PS6 could arrive in 2028 (more or less). So in the period between now and then, whistleblower and UP owner RedGamingTech shared that the PS5 Pro would be cancelled and replaced with a personalized PS5 console known as Gen 2 or V2. This personalized PS5 is the one with the detachable disc drive.

Whichever it is, we think it's best to take this news with a grain of salt because it's all just from sources that aren't official. However, given Sony's past track record, having a Pro variant of the PlayStation is likely since there was a PS4 Pro. Anyway, we will just have to wait and see.
