If there's a technology that's starting to get mainstream attention in recent weeks, it would have to be ChatGPT. First released in November 2022, ChatGPT is a relatively new chatbot tool based on AI (Artificial Intelligence). AI and machine learning have been around for years and is mostly used by large corporates to automate some of their processes or work. Where does technology like ChatGPT fit in?

Well, it can fit in many areas that rely on text. So, you can see why we'd find it interesting. Of course, AI is far from perfect. It's not unexpected for it to provide wrong answers or deliver factual errors in responses or articles it generates. So out of curiosity, we generated an article using ChatGPT to see if it is good enough for writing articles. Check out the article below!

The Power of ChatGPT: Real-World Applications and Use Cases

In today's digital age, technology is increasingly playing a major role in our daily lives. From shopping online to booking a ride, we have become accustomed to using technology to make our lives easier and more convenient. The same can be said for how we communicate with each other, especially with the rise of messaging and chat applications. This is where OpenAI's ChatGPT comes in.

ChatGPT is a cutting-edge language model developed by OpenAI, which has the ability to understand and generate human-like text. It is trained on a massive amount of data and can respond to a wide range of topics with remarkable accuracy. This technology is already being used in various real-world applications, and it's changing the way we interact with technology.

ChatGPT can be accessed in different ways, including the main website

One of the most significant applications of ChatGPT is in the field of customer service. Companies can use ChatGPT to provide 24/7 support to their customers through messaging platforms. This not only improves the overall customer experience but also reduces the workload on human support staff. ChatGPT can handle a large volume of queries and provide prompt, accurate answers, freeing up human support staff to focus on more complex issues.

Another exciting use case for ChatGPT is in the development of virtual assistants. With its ability to understand and generate human-like text, ChatGPT can be integrated into personal digital assistants to improve their functionality. Whether it's answering questions, setting reminders, or helping with daily tasks, ChatGPT can help make our lives easier and more efficient.

In the education sector, ChatGPT can be used to develop personalized learning experiences. It can provide students with immediate feedback on their assignments and help them improve their understanding of the subject matter. This technology can also be used to develop language-learning apps, allowing users to practice speaking and writing in different languages.

The healthcare industry is also starting to explore the potential of ChatGPT. It can be used to develop virtual health assistants that can provide patients with information on their symptoms, diagnose common illnesses, and even offer advice on lifestyle changes to improve their health.

In conclusion, the power of ChatGPT lies in its ability to understand and generate human-like text, making it a versatile tool for various real-world applications. Whether it's improving customer service, developing virtual assistants, or transforming the education and healthcare industries, ChatGPT has the potential to make our lives easier, more efficient, and more convenient.

Before we go on, note that the images above were manually inserted by us. With that out of the way, let's see what we can break down from the AI-generated article. At a glance, there aren't any glaring mistakes you can spot in the article. That's partly because it's a rather basic article discussing general implementations of ChatGPT in various areas. In that sense, you can say that the AI is good enough to write simpler pieces like this.

If you look closely, you can also spot how the AI could exhibit certain human qualities. For instance, most people tend to have a style of writing and preferred choice of words. In this article, you can see some words or phrases that were repeated. An example would be "make our lives easier", which popped up in the article three times. Of course, you can consider this as the AI being taught to use this line to explain things in a simpler manner.

On the other hand, the ChatGPT AI doesn't seem to be good at being concise. It made some redundant phrases like "make our lives easier and more convenient", which both technically mean the same thing. Considering that this is a pretty bog-standard topic, it would have been better to use shorter sentences. Then again, you can also consider that a stylistic choice.

Having said that, this article is a perfectly acceptable piece. If it were an essay for school, it would have scored pretty well. It shows that ChatGPT is capable of doing certain things well enough, and writing basic articles seems to be one of them. There's even a case where the AI tool passed graduate-level law and business exams, albeit without very high scores.

Mind you, we can also expect there to be cases where ChatGPT doesn't quite hit the mark. For instance, some Internet users have reported that chatbots based on ChatGPT provided factual errors. AI requires a lot of training to be good, or it could result in drastic problems.

Case in point, there was a recent demo by Google for its new AI chatbot called Bard, which provided an inaccurate response to a question. This resulted in its share dropping by 7.7% for Google's parent company Alphabet, with an estimated loss of USD100 billion (~RM433 billion).

AI tools like ChatGPT show potential, but in my opinion, it's not quite at a stage where they can replace humans or take away our jobs. What do you think?
