The English football league, the Premier League, will launch its own streaming platform in Singapore starting next season. The platform will use the name Premier League+. That said, what should you know about it?

For your information, this would allow league fans to subscribe directly to Premier League content without having to go through third parties such as Astro, Sky, Prime Video or Starhub at present. Singapore was chosen as the test market after considering several other countries.

A solid alternative to Astro’s sport packages

Moreover, the test in Singapore is successful, Premier League+ will be expanded to other markets around the world. This move by the Premier League has long been offered by other leagues such as the NFL, NBA, and MLB in the United States. It allows customers to only pay to watch the content they are interested in without having to subscribe to other packages offered by third parties.

In Malaysia, the Premier League and Emirates FA Cup broadcasting rights are held by Astro until the 2027/28 season. Astro's three-year contract is renewed every 3 years. If there is no renewal for the 2028/29 season, it is likely that Premier League+ will be launched in Malaysia.
