Proton via Paultan.org announced that its group (domestic, export, smart, Proton and eMas) recorded sales of 13,918 vehicle units for the month of March 2025. This figure enabled the group to record a sales increase of 23.9% compared to February 2025 and 9.6% higher than the same month in 2024.

Thanks to the Total Industry Volume (TIV) estimated at 71,596 units last month, the sales recorded also allow the Proton group to expect a market share of 19.4%. This performance enabled the Proton group to close the first quarter of 2025 with total sales of 35,068 vehicle units, or a market share of 18.9% based on a total industry volume (TIV) of 184,652 units.

Among the factors contributing to this increase is the Proton eMas EV brand, which did not yet exist at the beginning of last year. The brand's first model, the eMas 7, sold 797 units last month, bringing total sales for the first quarter of this year to 1,853 units, allowing it to continue to hold the throne as the best-selling EV in Malaysia for the first three months of this year.

According to Proton, the introduction of the Proton eMas new energy vehicle (NEV) brand not only helped increase domestic sales, but it also increased export volumes where eMas 7 was sent to Nepal and Trinidad & Tobago, which was a significant contributor to export sales.

"Exports are a key pillar of Proton's growth strategy. While the journey to achieve our long-term targets is still a long way off, we are confident that our overseas investments are starting to show positive results and that our current and future model offerings will attract buyers both locally and internationally," added Roslan Abdullah.

Proton's export operations also continued to grow in the first quarter of 2025, with export volumes increasing by 211% in March to 417 units sold compared to February. This allows total export sales to now be 11.4% higher than in the first quarter of 2024, with the Proton Saga leading the way with 410 units delivered to overseas markets this year.
