The ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X are launching in Malaysia on 16 October 2025

Finally, the ASUS ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X have a launch date. Unveiled publicly at gamescom 2025, the duo will officially launch on 16 October 2025. As a global launch, the ROG Xbox Ally series will be available across over 35 markets, including Malaysia, Japan, the US, the UK, Australia, and much of Europe.

 

Global Rollout Begins

According to ASUS, China will see the ROG Ally X first, with the standard Ally arriving early next year. Additional regions like Brazil, India, Indonesia, and Thailand will follow shortly after, and pre-order and pricing details are expected in the coming weeks.

Xbox’s new Handheld Compatibility Program ensures thousands of PC titles are ready to run smoothly on launch day. Games will carryHandheld Optimised” or “Mostly Compatible” badges, indicating their readiness for portable play. Plus, Xbox is introducing advanced shader delivery — preloading shaders during game downloads to boost first-launch speed, reduce battery drain, and improve performance.

Compared to the ROG Ally X, the ROG Xbox Ally X has better hardware capabilities. It features an AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme (Zen 5, RDNA 3.5, NPU) processor, 24GB of LPDDR5X?8000 RAM, 1TB M.2 SSD of storage, and an 80Wh battery pack. Additionally, the gaming device also includes AI-powered features like Auto Super Resolution (Auto SR) and automatic highlight reels — both rolling out in early 2026.

 

Play It First at gamescom 2025

The ROG booth at gamescom will feature hands-on demos of both handhelds, alongside the latest Strix, Zephyrus, and Flow laptops. Attendees can test out titles like:

  • Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
  • DOOM: The Dark Ages
  • Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade
  • Gears of War: Reloaded
  • Hogwarts Legacy
  • Lies of P
