Redmi is expected to launch the Turbo 5 smartphone in China by December 2025, with an estimated starting price of around RM800 (converted from CNY1999, based on the previous Turbo 4’s pricing).
The device may also be introduced to global markets under a different name, likely the Poco X8 Pro.
What happened
According to recent leaks, Redmi is preparing to unveil the Turbo 5 earlier than its predecessor, the Turbo 4, which launched in January 2025.
The Turbo 5 is expected to feature MediaTek’s new Dimensity 8500 Ultra chipset, giving Redmi an early lead in adopting this mid-range SoC before other brands such as Honor, Realme, and iQOO follow suit in early 2026.
The Turbo 5 is said to offer a flat 6.6 to 6.67-inch LTPS OLED display with a 1.5K resolution. It will likely sport a metal middle frame, right-angled corners, and a minimalist rear design.
One of the key highlights is the rumoured 7,000mAh battery, with some sources suggesting a capacity of up to 7,500mAh, all while maintaining a slim and lightweight body.
A Pro variant of the Turbo 5 is also said to be in development, potentially arriving in early 2026. This model could include a larger 6.83-inch display, an 8,000mAh+ battery, and support for 100W fast charging. Globally, this model may launch as the Poco F8.
Multiple model numbers have been spotted in the IMEI database, with “2511FRT34C” believed to be the Turbo 5 for the Chinese market, while “2511FPC34G” and “2511FPC34I” are likely tied to the global and Indian versions of the Poco X8 Pro.
A recent certification by the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) also points to an imminent global debut.
