
Samsung recently confirmed that the highly anticipated Galaxy S25 series will use Qualcomm's latest chip, the Snapdragon 8 Elite. The president of Samsung Mobile, TM Roh, hinted that the Galaxy S25 Ultra model will most likely be equipped with this powerful chip. Although Roh did not mention the Galaxy S25 name directly, this announcement reinforces speculation that at least one model in the series will use the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite is Qualcomm's flagship mobile platform that offers a big upgrade over the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip on the Galaxy S24 Ultra. This chip provides a 40% increase in GPU performance and 35% in ray tracing capabilities, making it ideal for heavy gaming and multitasking. Furthermore, with a 44% increase in power efficiency, it offers better performance without sacrificing battery life.

The chip also features an enhanced NPU, which boosts AI-related functions by 45%. This means users can enjoy a smoother experience, especially with the Galaxy's more complex AI features. The Snapdragon 8 Elite also brings a cognitive AI imef signal processor, which enables smarter image processing and better picture quality. Functions such as real-time scene optimisation and advanced photo editing are expected to be among the features on offer.
In addition to improved performance, the Samsung Galaxy S25 is expected to come with a thinner design than the S24 series. The Ultra model may have more rounded corners to provide a more comfortable grip and better aesthetics.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra camera is expected to retain a 200 MP 1/0.98-inch sensor with an f/1.7 aperture and 24mm lens, along with versatile ultrawide and telephoto lenses. With the upgrade from the Snapdragon 8 Elite, users can expect sharper and more detailed photo quality in a variety of settings and light conditions.
