The Sims 4 could use AI to let players scan themselves into the game

For those still on The Sims 4, here's a piece of good news for you, or maybe not (if you enjoy creating characters manually). According to the latest information, EA might be planning to let users scan themselves into the world rather than building the characters manually, with the help of artificial intelligence (AI).

EA had filed the patent way back in April 2020, and it got approved in October 2021. The Sims Community mentions that the feature will allow players to upload photographs of themselves or characters, which can then be converted into an accurate Sim. Lines including "the method comprises: receiving an input image of a reference subject; processing the input image to generate a normalized image; identifying a set of features present in the normalized image, wherein each feature in the set of features corresponds to a portion of a head or body of the reference subject" were found in the patent.

It's worth mentioning that the first-gen The Sims also has a similar feature, but it's far from what we expect it to be in this time with more advanced technology. By using the Sims Creator, players can place an image of a face onto a character model. The result might be impressive back then, but now, it's straight out weird.
