The Sony WH-1000XMx series has been a fierce competitor in the wireless over-ear headphones segment for a long while. Therefore, it's no doubt the company will keep the momentum going by upgrading the product to keep up with the trends. With that said, the renders of the WH-1000XM5 are here, showing a new sleek design.

When you first lay eyes on the image, the most apparent change you notice might be the juncture between the headphones and the headband. It has become thinner compared to its predecessors, fitting into the modern design standard of the over-ear headphones.

Besides that, the source has also given out some features. It's said that the headphones can survive 40 hours with active noise cancellation (ANC) enabled, which shows 10 hours more than the XM4's claimed battery life with ANC activated. The new headphones could get fully charged in 3.5 hours as well. Other features include Bluetooth 5.2, support for a headphone jack, and an on/off slider instead of a button.
