Just out of the blue, Sony Malaysia has just confirmed that the Sony Xperia 5 is coming to the Malaysia market soon from 1 November 2019. Available in Blue, Red, Black and Grey, the phone will be on sale for RM3399. Woah, what's up with the price tag?
Well, looking into the features, the Xperia 5 features the trademark 21:9 CinemaWide 6.1-inch FHD+ OLED display with HDR technology that was present on the Sony Xperia 1 and the Sony BRAVIA TV lineup. Using Corning Gorilla Glass 6 on the front and back, it's also IP65/IP68 certified water and dust resistance. You can tell by now that it's quite a premium smartphone, but wait, there's more.
On the back, there is a set of 12MP (main, OIS, f/1.6) + 12MP (ultra-wide, f/2.4) + 12MP (telephoto, f/2.4) triple camera module, coupled with an improved Eye AF technology that is borrowed from the Sony Alpha lineup. This technology allows the user to track the subject's eye for the best possible portrait shot, as well as tracking the movement with the help of the 10fps AF/AE tracking (up to 30fps). Sony also improved the Cinema Pro “powered by CineAlta” for videographers to create multiple projects with different settings.
Speaking of CineAlta, another app that uses that is the Creator Mode which is inspired by Master Monitor colour reproduction for more precise colour accuracy, as well as having Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res audio sound system, and even an Imaging Edge Mobile app allowing the user to transfer images from an Alpha or Cyber-shot camera.
For the interior tech specs, it has the latest Snapdragon 855 chipset with an integrated X24 LTE Modem and 4 x 4 MIMO technology supporting all LTE bands, running on 6GB of RAM, 128GB storage (expandable up to 1TB via microSD slot), 3140mAh battery pack (supports fast charging), 8MP front camera, NFC-ready and more.
As mentioned earlier, the Xperia 5 will be available from 1 November at the Sony Store KLCC and Curve, Sony Store Online and selected Sony Centres.
