The Tesla Cybertruck is now in Malaysia but it is not for sale

It was only last week when Tesla Malaysia teased the Cybertruck arriving in Malaysia. While we waited for details, we later learned that the futuristic pick-up truck would not be on sale as confirmed by PaulTan.org. In fact, it's currently in the middle of its Asian Tour which has been to China, Hong Kong and Japan.

According to the media, there are a few factors that are preventing the Cybertruck from being sold here. This is due to the Right-Hand Drive conversion (Americans drive on the left side of the car), and getting the stainless steel exterior panels and razor-sharp front end to get through the global pedestrian protection legislation. Also, the production can only meet the demands in the US market for now and not outside of it.

The Cybertruck is now located at the Tesla Experience Centre Cyberjaya. Then next month, it will be moved to Pavilion Damansara Heights which also has the same experience centre as a showcase. To recap, it can go from 0-100 km/h in 2.7 seconds, with an estimated driving range of up to 547 km and a towing capacity of 4990 kg. The vehicle body uses a stainless steel exoskeleton which can withstand damage and long-term corrosion. The glass is armoured as well.

While it's kind of a bummer, we can still visit the Tesla Experience Centre in both Cyberjaya and Pavilion Damansara Heights in May 2024 to check out the Cybertruck in the flesh. You can also check out more information about the pick-up truck on the official Tesla Malaysia website here
