The US Mint has announced the production of a special USD1 coin in honour of Steve Jobs, the co-founder and former CEO of Apple, known for his contributions to the world of modern technology. So, what should you know about it?

For your information, the US Mint is the official agency of the United States government responsible for issuing official coins. So all the coins and real American money were made by them.

An effort to immortalise Steve Jobs among the American greats

The coin is part of the annual “American Innovation” series that celebrates individuals and groups who have contributed to driving innovation in the United States. For the 2026 edition, Steve Jobs is among the individuals selected to be immortalised on the coin’s design.

The design features Steve Jobs sitting cross-legged in front of a California landscape with rolling hills and oak trees in the background. According to the official statement, the posture and expression captured in a moment of reflection illustrate how his surroundings inspired him to make complex technology seem as intuitive and natural as nature itself.

The coin also features several important engravings, including “California”, “Steve Jobs” and the iconic motto “Make something wonderful.” This move is seen as a great tribute to Steve Jobs’ legacy in shaping a more user-friendly and influential technology world to this day.
