2 years ago, police departments at Kimberling City Police and Indian Point Police in Missouri conducted a pilot program to test new devices to help improve daily operations. As a result, police officers there are equipped with Samsung Galaxy Z Flip series smartphones to help them find efficiency in their work through several methods. So, what should you know about it?

For your information, this includes using the device as a body-worn camera to promote transparency. The Galaxy Z Flip device was chosen for its unique form factor, providing a light and compact design. To ensure that the device is made of the best quality and fit for purpose, Samsung partnered with Visual Labs, a leading body camera solution provider company.

In addition, they are working together to customize the device, such that body camera recording will be activated in urgent situations without having to turn on the display or open the smartphone. The body camera function can also be activated by detecting high speed when chasing a suspect or when connected to the dashboard (dash-cam), through the activation of emergency lights.

Moreover, these features give police officers an additional method to begin recording their surroundings immediately, increasing their ability to record critical events. Samsung announced that the success of testing using the Galaxy Z Flip as a body camera for police officers in the City of Kimberling and Indian Point Police was so positive that the solution has now been expanded to 25 other metro police departments in five states.
