The affordable Perodua EV will arrive in late 2025

Minister of the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz informed that his ministry is confident that Perusahaan Otomobil Bawah Sdn Bhd (Perodua) will be able to produce the first electric vehicle (EV) in Malaysia priced below RM100000. by the end of 2025.

For your information, this announcement was made in light of the recently announced Budget 2025. He was also reported to have said that his Ministry will also help Perodua in the development of the EV:

"Our aim is to help and facilitate Perodua because we want to make EVs an affordable vehicle."

Previously, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in the presentation of the Third MADANI Budget 2025 on Friday last week informed that Perodua is currently developing an electric car (EV) that will be sold at a price of less than RM100,000. Perodua previously at the Malaysia Auto Show 2024 had already shown its first electric vehicle (EV) prototype, known as the Myvi Conversion.

The power testing bench development process was made in collaboration with three local universities namely Universiti Tenaga Nasional, Universiti Kuala Lumpur and Universiti Putra Malaysia.
