
The code of conduct for the licensing of social media platform providers will be announced by the end of October. Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil said the preparation of the draft code of conduct is being worked on by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).
Asked about the content of the code of conduct, Fahmi said he had not been informed by the MCMC regarding the matter, but explained that the code will change with the passage of time and the development of the media platforms that will be licensed.
In addition, he said several new acts will also be enacted. That includes the Online Security Act which will be managed by the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Legals and Institutional Reforms) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said.
