Many smartphone manufacturers are aiming for bezel-less displays when it comes to making a new product. However, this creates an issue for the placement of front-facing cameras and it leads to the hot debate of notch designs. After the OPPO’s Innovation Day in China, a new era might begin soon as a working under-display selfie camera was being put on the show.

This is not the first time for OPPO to show the under-display camera to the public. Not long ago, a device with this technology was demonstrated in a video and people were impressed by it. However, there was not much detail about the quality of the photos and how it worked.

Now, OPPO is generous enough to finally have the device out in the open at the event for people to get their hands on. The technology uses an ultra-thin transparent material and a new pixel structure to sit on the camera, which allows light to pass through the glass and into the lens when not in use. It also features a wider aperture and sensor to capture enough light after being filtered through the layer.

However, it is said that the strange square-shaped camera can still be seen with a certain wallpaper under a certain angle. Otherwise, it is well-hidden in most situations and that’s the thing we've been asking for a long time since the debut of the huge and ugly notches. For the quality of the pictures, it is claimed to be looking good as well for a new way of presenting the front-facing camera.

With the release of this technology, all the whinings and complaints about the notches could end in the best way. What do you think about this in-display camera? Let us know on our Facebook page. For more tech news, stay tuned to TechNave.com.
