5G technology has spread throughout the smartphone industry over the past few months. This year, we are expecting more and more 5G smartphones to be rolled out as it has become a norm for the manufacturers. Other than smartphones, PC maker like Lenovo has adopted the technology to its latest product as well. The company showcased the world’s first ARM-powered 5G laptop, Yoga 5G at CES 2020.

The Lenovo Yoga 5G features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx instead of an Intel processor. It comes with Qualcomm’s X55 5G modem as well that supports millimeter-wave and sub-6GHz 5G networks as well as LTE. Other than that, Lenovo also promises 24 hours of battery life with a single charge. However, it is unsure whether the laptop still can last that long with 5G turned on.

Apart from 5G, the laptop comes with a 14-inch FHD IPS display, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB/ 512GB of storage options. There will also be two USB-C ports, a headphone jack, and a Nano-SIM slot, although the Yoga 5G supports eSIMs as well. For security, Lenovo has included a fingerprint scanner and an IR camera for quick unlocks.

Being the first 5G laptop is not easy, not to say it’s an ARM-powered laptop that is still rare in the market. However, with all the latest technologies packed into the Yoga 5G, it did make waves at the CES 2020. The Lenovo Yoga 5G will be selling at the price of 1499 USD (~RM6130.61) in Spring of 2020.
