Recently, the Ministry of Works launched the first guidelines for the design and installation of EV charging systems in Malaysia. It will serve as a national reference document for the development of the country's EV charging infrastructure. That said, what should you know about it?
EVs are becoming more common in Malaysia
For your information, Electric vehicles (EVs) are increasingly more common on the road, but the number of charging points in Malaysia has failed to meet the target set last year. More needs to be built to prevent incidents of waiting for EV charging stations from becoming commonplace in the near future.
Moreover, the guidelines aim to streamline the installation of EV chargers for contractors, government agencies, petrol station operators and individuals. The focus is not only on highway maintenance and rest areas, but also on federal, state and municipal roads under the supervision of the Public Works Department (PWD).
