Previously, we mentioned how PADU database weakness was exploited. Today, the government revealed they are aiming for 29 million PADU users before 31 March 2024. That said, what should you know about it?

For your information, only 798528 Malaysians have registered for the PADU database so far (Data as of 11:59 PM on 7 January 2024). This is way off the government’s target of 29 million users. According to the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM), the majority of PADU users originated from Selangor with a total of 182,943 users (22.91%). Johor ranked second with 85,975 registrations (10.77%) and Sarawak with 72,775 registrations (9.11%).

Interestingly, if this rate continues, that means PADU is averaging 133,088 registrations per day. It’s also worth noting this data excludes those who have completed their eKYC process and final submission of their data. Moreover, Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil has rallied MPs nationwide to encourage the public to get behind PADU.

To achieve this target, the government needs to average 322,000 new users per day. Given what happened with the recent weakness exploit, that could be a tough ask. Hopefully, everything will go well.
