The government allocates nearly RM200 million to upgrade Wi-Fi for better internet access

After 3,149 Wi-Fi access points were installed at three public universities in the first phase, another 31,173 Wi-Fi access points will be installed starting March at 14 public universities, 24 polytechnics and 43 community colleges nationwide, which are expected to be completed within four months for the second phase. So, what should you know about it?

For your information, this is part of government efforts to increase Internet access at public higher education institutions (IPTA). This was announced by Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil. For the first phase, the minister informed that the total cost allocated is RM11.6 million with all access points at all universities involved in this first phase to be completed by February 5, 2025.

Meanwhile, for the second phase, it involves a cost of RM175.8 million. He hopes that when nearly 35,000 Wi-Fi access points at the participating educational institutions are fully completed by July, it will be possible to comprehensively solve the Internet problem at all public universities.
