All iPhone models that support iOS 18 are expected to receive iOS 19 support, including the iPhone XS and XR launched in September 2018. That said, what should you know about it?

For your information, some Apple iPhones might not get the latest update. So, you might want to check if your phone is on this list. According to a report by iPhoneSoft, the following are the models expected to be compatible with iOS 19:

  • iPhone 17, 17 Air, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max (2025)
  • iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro, 16 Pro Max
  • iPhone 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max
  • iPhone 14, 14 Plus, 14 Pro, 14 Pro Max
  • iPhone 13, 13 Mini, 13 Pro, 13 Pro Max
  • iPhone 12, 12 Mini, 12 Pro, 12 Pro Max
  • iPhone 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max
  • iPhone XS / XS Max
  • iPhone XR
  • iPhone SE (second generation and above)

While the iPhones listed may indeed receive iOS 19 support, several new features will not be available on older devices. Some features, especially those involving artificial intelligence (AI) support, will be limited to the latest models.

Moreover, if this report is accurate, it would be the second year in a row that Apple has not discontinued support for any iPhone model in the annual iOS update. Currently, iOS 18 supports the same models as iOS 17, while iOS 17 released last year ended support for the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X.

In addition, the first iOS 19 beta is expected to be released during WWDC in June 2025, with the general launch typically following in September.
