“The iPad Pro will not bend easily” - Apple

Last week, Apple released the 2024 13-inch iPad Pro. With a thickness of only 5.1mm, it became the thinnest iPad and the thinnest Apple device in history. In this regard, many users have expressed concern about the new machine being easy to bend. That said, what should you know about it?

Recently, John Ternus, Apple’s senior vice president of hardware engineering, gave a detailed introduction to the 2024 iPad Pro in a conversation with well-known technology blogger Mrwhosetheboss. Plus, John Ternus said that although the 13-inch version of the M4 iPad Pro is "the thinnest Apple product ever (5.1mm)," the company has taken a series of measures to ensure the durability of the new tablet and prevent it from bending easily.

According to reports, Apple’s R&D team used an entire metal plate covering the motherboard as a heat sink. This metal plate also serves as the “central rib” that runs through the tablet. This greatly improves the rigidity and structural strength of the product. Although Apple has been pursuing slim designs for its devices, past iPad Pros (especially the 12.9-inch version) have had bending issues.

Furthermore, many users have found the device to be bent after using it for some time. It is unclear whether the design of the 2024 iPad Pro can completely solve this problem. At this point, only time will tell. Hopefully, everything goes well for the manufacturing process. After all, Apple fans in Malaysia will be very eager for the next iPad model.
