As many of you should already know, the upcoming iPhone 12 series features a new MagSafe charging method and all the models can charge up to 15W. However, it has brought to our attention that the iPhone 12 mini can only charge up to 12W with MagSafe.

According to the newly released MagSafe Charger tutorial by Apple, only the iPhone 12 mini can get up to 12W for the fastest wireless charging with at least 9V/2.03A output, instead of up to 15W like the rest of the iPhone 12 models. Speaking of 15W, this charging power can be done as long as it's a USB C charger adapter or more than 9V/2.56A. On top of that, Apple also mentioned that if the iPhone 12 model is connected to a Lightning accessory like earphones (note, not Bluetooth), the MagSafe Charger will only charge at 7.5W in line with regulatory standards.

Apple also wants you to know that before you charge your iPhone 12 with a MagSafe charger, make sure it is connected to the charger adapter first before you slap on the iPhone 12's back. This is so that the MagSafe charger can verify if it's safe to delivery maximum power or not. If the MagSafe charger is on the iPhone 12 already, remove it first and plug it to the charger adapter.

It's nice that Apple gives a head's up on how to use a MagSafe charger properly. Also, 12W is not that bad as you think. I'm currently using a 12W fast charger for my iPhone 11 and it's relatively fast. Stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
