In Malaysia, the iPhone 16e's starting price is RM2,999. While it is more affordable than the rest of the iPhone 16 series, it is still considered more expensive than the iPhone SE lineup with less advanced tech specs.
Many would expect the iPhone 16e to underperform in sales, but that is not the case. According to Bloomberg, it turned out that the iPhone 16e got 60% more sales than its predecessors. The reasons? Well, Apple had already discontinued the iPhone SE, and it has to do mostly with the casual target audience.
As aforementioned, the iPhone 16e is the "lowest" entry point for Apple fans and other casual customers so there aren't many options to begin with unless they switch to an Android device with a similar price range. On top of that, the casuals who are upgrading from their old iPhone SE might not see the price hike as an issue, since they don't change devices often throughout the years.
The statistics are likely taken from the West, so we won't know how well it performed here in Malaysia. Anyway, did you get an iPhone 16e? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
